1. Who we are
PhotoGenie is made by Redsprint Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. This policy covers the PhotoGenie iOS app and the photo-genie.app website. Contact: [email protected].
2. The short version
PhotoGenie runs on your phone. No photo, thumbnail or filename ever leaves it. The app does send us small usage records, described in section 7, so we can see how it is doing and find faults. We do not run ads and we do not sell data.
3. What the app reads
With your permission, the app reads the photo library on your phone: the photos and videos, their size, their date and any location tag they carry. That is what builds the strip, the folders and the storage figures. If you grant access to a selection rather than the whole library, the app sees only that selection and says so on screen.
4. What leaves your phone
No photo, thumbnail, filename or location tag leaves your phone. We never view, analyse or upload your images. What the app does send is analytics and telemetry, described in section 7.
5. Deleting
PhotoGenie never deletes a photo permanently. When you confirm a delete, iOS asks you again and then moves the photos to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, where they stay for 30 days. Emptying that album is something only you can do, inside Photos.
6. Folders
Folders in the app are albums in Photos. Filing a photo adds it to that album on your phone. The colour and pin state of a folder are stored in the app's own files on your phone and nowhere else.
7. Analytics and telemetry
The app sends us analytics and telemetry: records of how the app is being used. They go to systems we run and stay with us for our own use; they are not shared with or sold to any third party. We collect them for one reason, to see how people use the app so we can improve it and find and fix problems quickly. The records are not connected to your identity. They carry a random identifier, issued through Firebase Authentication, a Google service, so we can tell one install from another, and nothing that names you: no name, email address, Apple ID or phone number. We never view, analyse or upload your photos. Deleting the app ends the collection.
8. This website
KeenStats, our own service, collects website activity anonymously to understand where and when the website is accessed from and from what type of device. This lets us improve the website and consider offerings matched to your locale. It is not connected to your identity and it stays with us for our own use.
9. Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask what data we hold about you and have it corrected or deleted. The usage records carry no name or contact detail, so we have no way to pick out yours; deleting the app stops the collection and removes the identifiers from your phone. For anything else, email [email protected].
10. Changes
If what the app collects ever changes, this page will say what and the date above will change.
